7 4 PETR OGOTOEV
Eles Bootur the Great
Though he is far from me,
From my best years
But he is powerful, indeed!”
Here his old woman
Murmured under her nose:
“He is not ashamed of his age,
He doesn’t see that
He’s small and ugly
And is still boasting,”
Eles Bootur the Great
Having heard it, a*
Having seen it,
Was greatly surprised:
“So small and such a boaster!
But he knows so much.
How did he manage to learn
Everything so quickly?”
He went on his way and
Got to the bottom
Of the great World.
How long he had been galloping
He didn’t know,
Suddenly he saw
A blue smoke rising up,
A lot of people on
A large spacious place
Shining from a distance,
Sooner or later he got to
This wonderful land,
Gazing at it attentively,
He understood:
It was a nice land, indeed.
A crane flying around
For nine days and nights
Didn’t find edges
Of its flat smooth valley.
A white crane failing
To get to the ends
Of its shining field
