44 PETR OGOTOEV
Then during nine days and nights
It rained heavily covering the earth
With hail as large as a bullfinch egg.
A hail as large as a bull calf head
Made a deep hole of nine sagenes,
Dark fluffy clouds swelled out
Reminding you of elk wool,
Snow mixed up with the dust
Covered the ground up to a cow horn,
Thick foggy clouds from nowhere
Shrouded the sky, sending darkness,
It had been snowing
For ten days and nights
Wrapping trees to the tops.
Suddenly the violent storm
Having damaged all around,
Stopped blowing.
The sky cleared up,
A sharp wind began to whip,
The ground covered with ice
Was slippery to stand on feet,
Nothing was heard,
Nobody was seen.
Moving your gaze round,
You’ll see a black fog
Speeding from the northern sky.
A dense smoke covering the sun
Was floating,
A dark haze reaching the moon
Was drifting,
Everybody having eyes
Gazed a smoke-black cloud
Approaching quickly.
Having Black Bear Horse
Eles Bootur the Great
Grew cold with fear,
His hair stood on end.
Whose cunning is it or
Is it a passing-by cloud ?
Whose slyness is it or
Is it a running away cloud ?
