ELES BOOTUR 5 1
Yoked a huge and quick ox
Running like a fallen star,
Leaving a seven-sagened track
Set against the biggest serge suddenly.
Hardly the devil landed,
Eles Bootur the Great
Straining himself quickly,
Pulled out a fiery, threatening head
Of the short-legged low ox
Like a stump of a tree,
Eos Tardar the Bloody
Was shocked greatly:
“What’s this? Let the heads
Of nine cranes rot!
At a distance of nine sagenes
He stopped on his single leg:
“Who is this naughty fool
Not being afraid of me
Is making fun of me ?”
Shading his eyes with his huge
Like a concave spade palm,
He tried to make out hard
With his seven times wealed narrow eyes.
Eles Bootur discerned at last
The terrible features of this devil,
Having the single leg, single arm,
Bewitching tongue, covetous habits,
Seventy-seven guiles,
Eighty-eight hypocrisies,
Ninety-nine dodgy tricks,
Having a wild fist
Cross-eyed, unbending scoundrel
Was standing here.
With his single hand on his hip!
Going to get married,
He put on his best things:
Boots sewed of sacrificial skin,
Soles made of tempered iron,
His trousers are sacred,
His coat is a devil skin,
