80 PETR OGOTOEV
Was so glad, the poor thing,
Jumping with joy, he shouted:
“Oh, I knew you’re good people,
Kind-hearted, kind-minded,
You’re not mistaken, I go-go!”
Grasping his short-legged ox,
Sitting down on his clumsy black sledge,
Shouting out he disappeared at once
As soon as he left they began
To prepare the great wedding:
They built a bewitching bam
Made of iron turning round
In between the sky and earth.
Gathering urine
Of seven virgin cows,
Of seven unbridled mares,
Of seven shrewish virgins, who got old
Not having dealt with men
Even when they were young.
They prepared a drinking
Impossible to be tasted,
As soon as he came
They led him to the best table
And began to treat him to.
Having drunk three barrels
Getting drunk and mad
Jumping nine times on one leg
And nine times on two legs
On the tenth time when the door
Of the bam flung open
He just got into it.
As soon as he got into
He didn’t even notice how
He was tied from toe to throat
To a post in the center so firmly
That he couldn’t move even his finger.
Be careful, don’t touch him!
He’ll not be peaceful
If he comes out of the dark bam!”
Our hero calmed down in the end
