■
The distance of three days
Gleaming and glittering.
To understand
What land is praised,
What land is sung
Under the endless sky a
And the rising up sun,
And the white-faced moon
In this Middle World
I throw a gaze around and see
Its vast valleys where
Snow doesn’t lie long,
Like a beautiful girl
With large round eyes,
With a painted beak
And white glittering wings
Having black spots,
With a straight bearing
Walks proudly,
With a violin-like voice
Sings clearly,
Spends winter in China,
It is a crane, wonderful bird,
In the blue high sky
Floating freely,
Finding a suitable spot
Settles down arrogantly,
Sitting on a pure-white tableland,
Starts crying loudly.
An owner of the cold tundra
Having a strong black beak
A tall long-legged bird,
A free crane it is.
To see a sakha-man
Having flown for nine days and nights
Finding the end of the valley,
Crying out loudly,
It settles down
On a not-hailed light valley.
If you look round
